In practice that combination is rare. Most colours that set the atmosphere do so through saturation or darkness, and both cost light. Here it happens at a light reflectance value of more than forty per cent — hardly any brightness is lost.

For rooms with little daylight that nevertheless need colour, this region is therefore more usable than a saturated colour at a lower lightness.
