About RAL 010 40 15

The limit lies not with the hue but with the saturation. Red on a large surface becomes problematic as soon as the saturation rises: the eye keeps correcting and the room becomes restless. Below saturation 20 that does not happen, and you keep the colour without the tension.

What you do keep is the temperature. Even when muted, red stays on the warm side of the spectrum, and on a large surface that is noticeable: the room feels warmer than it would in a neutral grey of the same lightness.
