That relationship holds throughout the system. The further you are from the middle of the lightness scale, the less saturation is attainable — on the dark side because too little light comes back to carry colour, on the light side because too much white plays through. The maximum saturation of this hue therefore does not lie here but around L* 40.
In practice this is the shade for anyone who wants the deepest, fullest red that is still genuinely dark: theatre interiors, hospitality, furniture fronts where the red has to carry weight.
