That is exactly what makes it hard to place and at the same time widely usable. There is no application for which this shade is the obvious choice, and there is no application for which it is unsuitable.
In practice this shade therefore often comes into view as a compromise: when a darker red turned out to be too heavy and a more saturated red too strong. That is a legitimate route, provided you make the choice deliberately and do not end up in the middle out of indecision.
