About RAL 1003
Character. Pure and highly saturated, without any orange or green deviation. Next to RAL 1021 rape yellow, 1003 looks slightly warmer; next to RAL 1023 traffic yellow the distinction is small and in practice can only be established reliably by laying both samples side by side.
Application. Safety marking, machine building, warning signs and signalling. Prescribed in standards and specifications where yellow carries a warning meaning.
Saturated yellow covers less well than neutral colours and therefore requires more coats, certainly on a dark substrate. Outdoors this colour is also prone to fading; for repair work you compare with the existing, aged condition and not with a new fan deck.
