RAL Classic — yellows (RAL 1000 series)
Thirty colours, RAL 1000 through 1037. The 1000 series is broader than its name suggests: besides the bright yellows it holds the beiges and off-whites, because the division follows the first digit of the code rather than everyday perception. RAL 1013 oyster white and RAL 1015 light ivory are yellows, however white they look.
Two very different uses sit side by side within the group. The saturated yellows are signal colours: RAL 1003 signal yellow, RAL 1021 colza yellow and RAL 1023 traffic yellow are prescribed in safety marking, transport and machine building. The muted shades — RAL 1000 green beige, RAL 1001 beige, RAL 1019 grey beige — are building colours for façades and window frames.
Yellow is a difficult colour to reproduce and to keep. Yellow pigments are more sensitive to UV than most others, so saturated yellow fades faster outdoors. When making good on existing yellow paintwork, measuring is therefore wiser than comparing against a fan deck: otherwise you are comparing with the colour as it was, not as it is now.

More about yellows (RAL 1000 series)
The two pearlescent colours RAL 1035 pearl beige and RAL 1036 pearl gold also fall in this series. Like the metallics, these are effect colours whose appearance depends on viewing angle and application.
