About RAL 030 40 30
Why this particular combination is so persistent: it is dark enough to tolerate dirt and grime, saturated enough still to read as a colour after years, and warm enough to sit well against almost any Dutch façade.
With large roof surfaces something else comes into play. A roof is nearly always seen at an angle, so the light strikes it at a grazing incidence. That changes perception: a colour that is right on a vertical surface looks darker and duller on a pitched roof. Judge roof colours at the same angle at which they will lie.
