About RAL 030 30 20
This is the territory of traditional exterior painting. Dark red shutters, gates and doors were standard for centuries, and the reason was material: iron oxide pigments were cheap, exceptionally lightfast and weather-resistant. What is now a matter of style was then the only sensible option.
That lightfastness still holds. Of all the red regions this one stands up longest to wind and weather — an argument that weighs more heavily outdoors than the colour impression itself.
