A light, heavily muted beige. One of the camouflage colours the Bundeswehr has used since 1993 for deployment in arid and steppe terrain.

About RAL 1039-F9
Character. Very low in chroma, on a neutral to slightly yellow base. The colour was not chosen to please but to merge into sandy ground, stone desert and dry grass. Beside RAL 8031-F9 sand brown, 1039-F9 is clearly lighter and less red.
Function. Base colour of the arid-terrain pattern, combined with 1040-F9 and 8031-F9.
Gloss level. Extremely matt. The gloss range is stated on the card at several measuring angles; the reading at 85° is the decisive one. Reflection is the failure mode here, not colour deviation.
