Twee dingen maken deze positie bijzonder. Het verzadiging is het hoogste dat we tot nu toe zijn tegengekomen — de rode kleurtonen bleven onder de 60. En het maximum ligt bij een lichter niveau dan bij rood: L* 60 in plaats van 40 of 50.
Beide volgen uit hetzelfde: oranje is een lichte kleur van nature. Het heeft licht nodig om zich te kunnen verzadigen, en zodra dat er is, gaat het verder dan rood ooit komt. In het gele gebied hierna gaat die lijn nog door.
