Die omslag ligt bij oranje hoger dan bij andere kleurtonen. Rood wordt al bij verzadiging 20 en lichtheid 30 als rood herkend; oranje heeft meer van beide nodig. Dat is dezelfde eigenschap die verklaart waarom het donkere deel van deze kleurtoon zo dun bezet is.
