RAL 841-GL is the primary standard of RAL Classic in high gloss. It is an original paint specimen with measurement data, intended as a binding reference rather than as a means of choosing a colour. With a primary standard, the gloss level is part of the specification. The same colour looks deeper and more saturated in high gloss than in satin gloss; anyone who fixes a colour without naming the gloss level has in practice fixed nothing. For satin gloss, use RAL 840-HR. Not every RAL Classic colour is available as a primary standard in high gloss. Store the samples in the dark: under the influence of light and air a paint specimen changes, and in a reference that is precisely the problem.
