RAL Classic — oranges (RAL 2000 series)
Fourteen colours, RAL 2000 through 2017. After violet the smallest group in RAL Classic, and the most emphatically functional. Orange entered the collection because it catches the eye, not because it decorates.
The core of the group consists of signal and warning colours. RAL 2009 traffic orange and RAL 2010 signal orange are prescribed in road marking, transport and safety equipment. RAL 2004 pure orange is the colour that recurs most often in machine building and industrial marking.
Alongside these sits a smaller number of muted shades: RAL 2012 salmon orange and RAL 2003 pastel orange are softer and are used mainly in product design and interiors.

More about oranges (RAL 2000 series)
Saturated orange calls for attention to opacity when applied. The pigments these shades are built from cover less well than neutral colours, so in practice more coats are needed for an even result. On a dark substrate a different primer is often necessary.
