COLOUR QUALITY UNDER CONTROL — The science and practice of colour assessment in industry In a market where visual consistency is directly tied to brand value and customer experience, colour assessment has grown into a strategic skill. This first volume in a three-part series gives professionals a scientific foundation for reliable colour assessment processes. Grounded in both scientific insight and years of practical experience, it covers the theoretical foundations: from the physical basis and human perception to colour systematics and communication. Among other things, this book helps you to:

• Understand colour perception fundamentally: why people see colours differently and what that means for quality control

• Calculate economic impact: including models for profitable investment in colour quality systems

• Develop a shared language for colour within your organisation and supply chain Whether you work as a quality manager, product developer, buyer or technical specialist, this first volume offers the theoretical insight essential to any professional colour management and lays the basis for the practical applications in the volumes that follow.

Mark Kotterink is a specialist in colour technology and the author of Colour Assessment in Practice. He has more than twenty years of experience in colour measurement, colour perception and the implementation of colour quality systems in sectors such as textiles, coatings, plastics and print. Since 2005 he has trained professionals in visual and instrumental colour assessment and advised companies that already have advanced equipment but in practice struggle with colour differences, customer complaints or uncertainty about tolerances. His strength lies in combining scientific insight into colour perception with practical application and economic reality. Kotterink is also the author of the books Colour Advice and Colour Design, in which he explores the role of colour in design, communication and spatial application. He is attached to the Stichting Nederlands Kleur Instituut (SNKI) in Krommenie, a leading organisation in the field of applied colour technology.
