RAL Classic — violets (RAL 4000 series)
Twelve colours, RAL 4001 through 4012 — the smallest group within RAL Classic. The series does not begin at 4000: that code does not exist.
Of all the colour groups, violet has the least industrial use, and that explains its size. The colours that do matter were laid down because an authority or sector needed them: RAL 4006 traffic purple and RAL 4008 signal violet are signal colours, and RAL 4010 telemagenta arose as a corporate colour in the telecoms sector.
Beyond that, the group is used mainly where standing out matters: product design, corporate colour work and accents in interiors. RAL 4003 heather violet and RAL 4009 pastel violet are the most common of these.

More about violets (RAL 4000 series)
Violet is the hardest colour group to render digitally. A large share of these shades falls outside what a screen can show, so the rendering on a monitor deviates systematically from the real colour. Always judge violet on physical material.
